When choosing your altar flowers, there are several considerations. First, find out whether there is another wedding in your church on the same day as yours. You may be able to share the cost of flowers with another bride. Next ask if you are permitted to remove the flowers after the ceremony. You may be surprised to find that you are required to leave them. If you are permitted to take your flowers, an arrangement like this one is good value, because it can contain your Unity Candle and can then be transported to the reception to be used on the Bridal Table. Also, find out what your church recommends. Often, they know what works in their sanctuary, and what does not.
If you must leave your church flowers, consider using large less expensive flowers like gladiolas, carnations and mums that can be seen from far away. You want the maximum visual impact for the least dollars spent. From a distance, your guests won't be able to tell a rose from a carnation. In most cases, you will need two large arrangements, one on each side of the altar. Elevating them off the floor allows them to be seen better, especially with large wedding parties standing in front of them. The pedestals seen here are available to rent in two heights, as well as a pair of tall Grecian columns. Other items to consider when ordering church flowers include pew markers, aisle runner, peace offering roses and an arrangement for the Blessed Mother. The items mentioned here are the most common requests. You may need and desire more flowers.......and you may not require all of these. We can help you with all of these selections. Your pew markers may be as simple as large satin bows or as elaborate as arrangements
on pedestals. Remember to ask your church or wedding coordinator the length of the aisle. Your florist will need it to order one for you. Incidentally, the reason for an aisle runner goes back to the times of the horse and buggy. The streets were often muddy, so the runner was pulled back just before the bride made her entrance, keeping her dress clean.
